You know you have the Tae Kwon Do bug!
People think I am mad, I used to miss my friend's birthdays because I had training!
How many times have you accidentally bowed at doorways in shops or classrooms/at work!?
Or opened/closed doors with various kicks (including light switches when you get a bit better)
I know there is more but these are the things I have actually done in real life.
Otherwise, I am absolutely mad about TKD and it is my number 1 priority in life. I am sure that will change when i have kids, but I love being so passionate about something. If ever I am unhappy in TKD for any reason it affects my whole life!
What are the crazy and extreme things you have done because of TKD? What is the longest you have trained without stopping?
My record is only 5 nights in a row, but when there is a prelim followed by something on a sunday i might give it a go!!

haha! I tend to create correct knifehand positions when accepting money etc at work. I also turn off light switches with my feet and do kicks when im having a conversation with someone The longest i have gone is about 3 weeks over the christmas period where our school closes over crimbo but i dnt think that counts. Otherwise i have only gone about 2 days without training.

The lightswitch kicks are my particular favourite!
Also talking constantly about work, and trying to get everyone I meet to come along and train, emphasizing, "first lesson free, you'll enjoy it"
Ive got the bug, im not particulary good at it, but its something im working on every day

LOL this is hilarious because I can totally relate to it! Things got a bit out of hand the beginning of this year and I seem to practically live in a dobok! I once bowed on entering a one to one meeting with my manager at work, very embarrassing. I think some of my work colleagues forget sometimes that they don't actually do TKD as I never shut up about it. I try to get them to come circuit training for 'fun' I also used to practice patterns in the work loos before my grading but thankfully no-one caught me!
I've definitely trained 4 or 5 days in a row quite often but if we include TKD related events like competitions etc then probably non stop for a couple of weeks! I did 12hrs in 2 days at winter camp last year which was BRILLIANT!
It's good to know I'm not the only one! I love TKD for loads of reasons but especially the way it always wakes me up and lifts my mood after a rubbish day at work

that sounds like the ultimate experience in TKD! TKD definately brightens up my life - not that my life is miserable, but whenever i'm feeling low or anything like that, going training always helps. And thinking about it helps too. Only when things aren't going well in TKD do i know i'm having a rough time!
i'd forgotten about trying to get everyone to grade. Every year when we get our new intake of yr 7 (im a secondary school teacher) i give them a "talk" about tkd and leaflets ...how bad am i!!

Re: You know you have the Tae Kwon Do bug!
Not long ago I got temporary use of an office down the far end of the work's building and spent about six hours a day training for six days straight! Did all the stuff I was supposed to and basically got paid to train - awesome!

What sort of Kick dio you employ to change the light switch, I favour Front snap kick.
Anyone able to do it with a high section twisting kick?

How high are your light switches? Isn't a high-section twisting kick aimed at an opponents face stood behind your shoulder?!?
I normally use a turning kick or reverse turning kick to switch our lights on & off.
Re: Longest time continuous training.
I once took part and helped instruct in a 24 hour non-stop Tae Kwon-do lesson in Cambridgeshire. That was really good fun and everybody helped each other to stay motivated. I believe there were over 180 people taking part that day/ night!
When I was preparing myself for my 1st Dan grading, I used to do about 8 training sessions a week, (each one an hour and a half). One every day and two on a Tuesday evening. I did this for the 3 months running up to my grading, then rested for the last month by dropping it to about 4 sessions a week. I felt that this really made my grading go a lot smoother, as I knew all my techniques and my fitness levels were peaking, so I just had the nerves to cope with. Now I'm preparing for my 3rd Dan and will be raising the amount of training sessions again.
